Can "project management" be used to take over an organization ? In the French movie "office space", auditors, essentially phony, were brought in to "performance manage" an organization. Real aim was to seize control of the company. Was "project management" successful with Collins submarine project ? I notice the supplier kept changing, from Rockwell Ship Systems Australia, to Rockwell Australia, to Boeing, to Raytheon. Was all or any of this needed ? Wouldn't the contract be "fire and forget", needing minimal "supervision". By coincidence, the legacy submarine possessed a "fire and forget" weapon system. So all that was needed to set to work Collins software was to set up a "fire and forget" contract to port the "fire and forget" weapon system to the new submarine. It follows that if there were "problems", as the media keeps repeating, someone was causing the problems.

Can you help me with Events Management? I am looking at setting up an event management business (I am already self-employed) but am not entirely sure where to start. I know I need to build up a database of suppliers but it is very difficult to get cheap rates unless you "buy in bulk" and with only one previous event under my belt which was done for my own profit rather than for someone else promising future business is going to be difficult. But... without a database of suppliers I can't get an idea of how much an event will cost or have suppliers ready to do the work! Does anyone have experience in event management or any tips they can give me to start out? Answers: Events along the lines of promotional events for businesses, entertainment and events like parties, corporate dinner dances to start with. I'm not looking to help fledgling business at the minute. I need more experience myself first but that is my aim in the future. Demand is a difficult one, I organise everything myself and hate to spend money on other companies to do that for me but I do know that many large business I worked for and the public will pay for someone to take the work off their hands. I already run pole parties for which people pay a lot of money though this obviously includes payment for the instructor expertise as well. Competition seems high within the industry in general. I run a dance competition annually already. Other than that, parties/dinner dances. I will look to hire any equipment i need per event. Website, myspace, google & local newpapers/magazines. No employees to start with, a sole trader though my instructors will help.

Fresh gidzuck has a shelf life of ten days after it is delivered from the supplier. In the trade, restauran? Fresh gidzuck has a shelf life of ten days after it is delivered from the supplier. In the trade, restaurants have no right to return unused merchandise to the supplier. MacDoughs is a chain of fifteen restaurants. MacDoughs uses a central warehouse and central purchasing The buyer, after checking inventory in the warehouse and sales at the restaurants, orders from the vendors. The vendors ship to the central warehouse and the individual restaurants pick up from the central warehouse. MacDoughs has featured a gidzuck sandwich at the restaurants. MacDoughs typically orders about a ton of fresh gidzuck twice a week on Saturdays and Thursdays for delivery at the warehouse on Mondays and Fridays. Gidmarket has been MacDoughs only vendor for fresh gidzuck. Gidmarket bills MacDoughs the beginning of each month for all purchases for the last month. On Saturday December 8, 2001 Bernie, the MacDoughs buyer orders 1,800 pounds of fresh gidzuck @ $8.00 per pound from Gidmarket for delivery Monday December 10, 2001. On Monday December 10, 2001 the truck from Gidmarket pulls up to the MacDoughs warehouse at 5:20 P.M.. MacDoughs offices close at 5:00 P.M. but the warehouse is open 24 hours a day. This is the last stop for the truck for the day and the driver was going to take the truck home after making the last stop. The Gidmarket truck was overstocked that day and there were still 2,600 pounds of gidzuck on the truck. The driver explains to the warehouse manager that it would really help the driver out if they would take all 2,600 pounds. Otherwise the driver will have to return to Gidmarket to offload the 800 pounds of unsold gidzuck rather than drive the truck straight home. The warehouse manager agrees thinking that the buyer will just order 800 pounds less on Thursday. So the warehouse manager signs for the receipt of the 2,600 pounds. Unbeknownst to the warehouse manager or Gidmarket, due to concerns of high cholesterol MacDoughs management has decided to take gidzuck off all of its menus effective as of Saturday, December 15, 2001. The new menus for the restaurants which go into effect on Sunday, December 16, 2001 have no gidzuck items. Therefore, the December 8, 2001 order to be delivered on December 10, 2001 was the last scheduled order of gidzuck by the MacDoughs buyer. REQUIRED: 1.When the warehouse manager signed for the 2,600 pounds on December 10, 2001 has MacDoughs agreed to purchase the extra 800 pounds? Why(not)? 2.Assume on December 11, 2001 the warehouse manager notifies the buyer of the extra 800 pounds, does MacDoughs have the right to promptly notify Gidmarket and return the 800 pounds for full credit? Why(not)? 3.Assume the warehouse manager never notifies the buyer about the extra 800 pounds and MacDoughs donates all unused gidzuck to a food pantry on December 15, 2001. The buyer first learns about the 800 pounds in January when MacDoughs receives the December invoice from Gidmarket. Does MacDoughs have the right to refuse to pay for the 800 pounds? Why(not)? 4.Assume that in “3.” above MacDoughs has to pay Gidmarket for the 800 pounds, who, if anyone, will be responsible to MacDoughs for the loss? Why(not)? 5.Assume that in “3.” above MacDoughs does not have pay Gidmarket for the 800 pounds, who, if anyone, will be responsible to Gidmarket for the loss? Why(not)?

A question about upper management? I have new job selling stuff from home after I lost my real job where the man took a grip of my money each week. ow I am living tax free and loving it! Anyway, my suppliers are ruining the product I am selling before it gets to me. It has also lost a lot of its potency and comes at a high price then I have heard about. How can I get in touch with someone in upper management? I could use a bigger profit margin, I mean who couldn't!?!?!?
Do you have ideas for a church to manage inventory, use and ordering of office supplies? I work for a large church and we desperately need to have a system to inventory, manage and track office supplies. We need to establish re-order points and start understanding how the church year (i.e. fall kick-off, Christmas, Easter, summer) affects the need for inventory so what's needed can be onhand and ordered for the best prices. We have good suppliers, but people just order whatever they want/need so there's lots of money to be saved. I would love to see forms, lists, software, written instructions, policy, rules, methods. You get the idea! Also, has anyone tried using MS Access Inventory Management template for this? Clarification: This church has 3 locations with nearly 150 on staff. Theft of office supplies is not at issue. Being a paperclip Nazi is not at issue. Having supplies there when needed is the goal. Thanks to those who have taken my questions seriously.
I'm doing a management presentation on a reglious company envionment/planning/etc. and don't know how to start I have to have their mission statement, board of directors. What they sell/who their suppliers are/their sales/profit/loss/forecast for future. The history of their company. Who their competition is, who are their customers? That's just for starters! Thanks Diane S.
My friend owns his own business. Should I list him as a job reference and say I worked for him? Although, I kind of really did work for him by helping him find suppliers etc. If I list working for him as management, and they call him to verify and he says yes.. that's all a company would need right? Can they call the IRS to check my employment history? I just need something good to add to my resume and make it stand out.
